Susan was referred to us for support with her 2 year old daughter, Hetty, due to difficulties with her mental health.
Susan told us that she was not taking her daughter out very much and had not met some of her other needs such as registering with a dentist or accessing free childcare, which would be beneficial for mother and child.
We introduced Susan to Anna, an experienced volunteer with us, and weekly visits started. Susan soon stated talking freely to Anna about how she was feeling and told us ‘…she had a warmth about her and made me feel important….I became more confident meeting new people…’
The weekly visits lasted for 6 months and at the end of this time Hetty was attending nursery, was registered with a dentist and Susan was engaging well with a mental health service that was really helping her.
